RESIDENTS of Alton's South West ward voted unanimously last week to reject a controversial proposal by Alton Town Council to redevelop the Whitedown allotment site to provide social housing and to relocate allotment plots to Chawton Park Road.
There was standing room only at Butts School as more than 150 residents and allotment holders packed the hall to have their say about the plan.
