TOP OF the class – St Ives School in Haslemere beat off stiff competition from across the UK to win a top slot at The Independent Schools of the Year Awards.

The 250 schools vying for the prize submitted their success stories to a judging panel of headteachers, governors, parents and representatives of membership associations from across the sector.

It was chaired by Dr Helen Wright, former president of the Girls School Association and vice-chairman of the Independent Schools Council. Headteacher Kay Goldsworthy said: “We are thrilled to have received this award and delighted with the glowing feedback from the judges.

“This accolade reflects the hard work of both our staff and the children, and our commitment to ensuring we provide the very best educational experience.

“We have always believed we have the best pastoral care in the country.”
