INSTANCES of anti-social behaviour in Farnham town centre have increased dramatically, according to the latest Home Office crime statistics.

The figures reveal there was a 60 per cent rise in cases of anti-social behaviour in the town centre this October compared to December 2010.

The total number of crimes reported to the police in Farnham town centre increased by 35 per cent, from 80 in December 2010 to 108 in October 2011.

Over the same period, burglary and vehicle crime also increased - although violent crime fell by half, from 12 cases to six.

In contrast to the town centre statistics, when including Farnham's surrounding villages and rural areas, burglary dropped 13 per cent and vehicle crime fell 44 per cent.
