VOLUNTEERS in Badshot Lea gathered on Saturday to rid the streets and alleyways of the village of litter as part of the national Big Pick Week.

Around 20 people braved the soggy weather during the morning to collect discarded rubbish.

The volunteers were then rewarded for their efforts with cups of hot tea and coffee, as well as jam doughnuts.

Organisers gave a “special thank you” to Badshot Lea Infant School for providing the venue, hot drinks and “not to mention the doughnuts”.
