RAF Odiham Motorcycle Club brought a bumper harvest of Easter cheer to children at Basingstoke Hospital last month.

Four riders loaded up their bikes to deliver over 100 chocolate eggs and 20 cuddly toys to the children’s ward.

Club treasurer Dale Johnson said: “It’s important for those who are either too young, or nil by mouth, to get a gift.

“We have had some fantastic feedback via our Facebook page, club forum and private messages from parents. It’s fantastic to know that a small gift can make things that little bit easier, not only for the parents and the child, but also their siblings.

“It’s not just those who are having to stay overnight, its also the day assessment wards, emergency department and neo-natal ward who benefit from a little boost.”

Hospital staff responded: “I would like to thank you for the wonderful donation of Easter eggs and presents we received this year. It was so generous and the children and their siblings were thrilled. Your kind donation helped to make their stay in hospital over Easter a more pleasurable experience. This year – through your generosity – we were able to ensure that children coming through the emergency department, patients and their siblings on the children’s ward, siblings of children in the neonatal unit and children coming into Charlie’s Day Assessment Unit all received an Easter egg.”

The motorcycle club has held Christmas appeals for the past five years. Last Christmas they sent a convoy with over 200 gifts and a host of goody bags with festive sweets to give out at the children’s ward.
