FOLLOWING a wait of almost three years, the renamed Grange Maternity Centre (GMC) is set to reopen its doors from April 1 – offering an increased level of services to prospective parents in Whitehill and Bordon. The Petersfield centre will provide a midwife presence 24 hours a day, providing full birth facilities and both ante and post-natal clinics, having taken on new staff at its Swan Street premises. Project midwife Dawn Phillips was delighted by the news. She said: "It's fantastic news, and we are all very excited at the moment. We've had a complete overhaul and all the new staff and I are in the process of getting the GMC ready to open. The Grange was controversially closed in July 2005 sparking an campaign to get the maternity centre re-opened. Mums will now be offered a 48-hour stay to recuperate, and develop a bond between mother and baby. Prospective parents should call 01730 262415 or Dawn Phillips on 07876 354615.
