THREE people were taken to hospital on Tuesday morning following an accident on black ice, involving a bus and several cars in Petworth Road, Haslemere.
The single-decker Stagecoach route 71 bus came to rest across a front garden, just inches away from a house in Petworth Road.
An R-registered, dark-green VW Golf narrowly missed the front wall of a house opposite.
Anne Cleveland, who was shaken by the experience, said she heard "a loud rumble" at around 7 am and couldn't believe her eyes when she saw the bus in her garden.
"The traffic goes too fast and roars up the road," said Miss Cleveland, who has lived in the house for 30 years.
Two fire appliances from Haslemere were quickly on the scene including a rescue unit from Pains Hill, and the occupants of all vehicles plus a passenger on the bus escaped serious injury.
The early morning freezing temperatures and a burst water main in Museum Hill added to the problems with sheet ice forming at the junction of the road, where another two vehicles were involved in separate accidents.
The B2131 Petworth Road, which was closed for several hours, reopened at 9-30 am.
Long queues of traffic built up during the morning rush hour and the road was closed again later to allow for the recovery of the bus.
