A FIRE engine called out amid multiple crashes on the A31 Hog's Back on Sunday morning returned to Farnham Fire Station on a low loader after being involved in a crash itself.
Sheet ice caused 14 accidents between Guildford and Farnham and the road was closed for two-and-ahalf hours while Surrey Police dealt with the incidents. Sergeant JP Davis from the Roads Policing Unit said: "The icy conditions caused several problems on the A31, with motorists driving much too fast for the conditions.
The northbound carriageway of the A3 was closed briefly at Thursley on Monday morning, while Surrey Police dealt with a number of incidents at Milford and Hindhead involving cars skidding and colliding with the central reservation due to black ice.
