VILLAGERS in East Meon rallied to the aid of a young couple after the thatched roof of their historic cottage was destroyed by fire.
More than 100 firefighters from across Hampshire descended on the village four miles west of Petersfield after a fire broke out in the roof of the semi-detached thatched cottage in High Street.
