BLIND walkers were able to enjoy a six-mile circular route from Blackheath, near Wonersh.
The 12 members of the London Blind Rambling Club joined 22 ramblers from Godalming and Haslemere Ramblers and leaders Jenny Winter and Heather Dillon. One of the visually impaired walkers brought her guide dog and others were assisted by sighted walkers.
“We’ve hosted the walkers from the London Blind Rambling Group annually for some years now and we love welcoming them to this area to enjoy the beautiful countryside,” Heather Dillon said.
“Jenny and I set a challenging walk for our visitors, with some narrow paths, at times overgrown, some rutted paths and a couple of hills. However, everyone coped admirably. Well done to everyone who came.”
The London Blind Rambling Club is run David Clark, who is blind, and his sighted wife, Valerie.
It undertakes approximately 30 walks a year, mostly in and around the capital, in conjunction with other groups.
David said: “I’ve been walking with the Godalming and Haslemere Ramblers for about 25 years and I rarely miss a walk.I enjoy walking so much, being out in the countryside far away from all the noise and pollution in London.”
