THE problem of "blocked beds" is putting pressure on hospitals in the run-up to winter, the local NHS watchdog has warned this week.
Members of the South West Surrey Community Health Council have expressed concern that there were 28 patients in the Royal Surrey County, Haslemere and Milford Hospitals whose delayed discharge into the care of Surrey social services meant they remained in hospital for longer than was "medically necessary or appropriate".
