JUDGING of Farnham’s entry into the Large Town and Town Centre categories of South and South East in Bloom is complete.
The judging in the Town Centre category began at Haren Garden where the judges met volunteers from the Farnham Rivers Group, who monitor and report species such as American crayfish.
Judges then made their way to Gostrey Meadow where they paused for ten minutes and watched around 100 children from The Dance Movement perform in Bloomin’ Dance.
At St Andrew’s School, children were proud to show the judges how they make use of every nook and cranny to make their town-centre school a haven for plants and wildlife.
The extensive tour also included a visit to space2grow, time to admire the hanging baskets planted by school children and volunteers, a chance to sample some produce growing in the edible planters in South Street, a look at the new Madge Green memorial garden, the newly-decorated bus stops in South Street and a visit to the Victoria Garden.
It came the day after judges were taken on a tour of Farnham on July 9, as part of the Large Town category judging, as reported in last week’s Herald.
Farnham in Bloom is sponsored by principal sponsor The Farnham Institute Charity, gold sponsors Forest Lodge Garden Centre, Graduate Landscapes, Squire’s Garden Centre and The Patio Black Spot Removal Company Ltd, and silver sponsors BBS Ltd, Bourne Wood Manor Care Home, Glendale, Net Technical Solutions and Wild Flower Turf Ltd.
The judging of Farnham’s entry into Britain in Bloom is set to take place on July 31.
Businesses and residents have been asked to have a weekly clean-up in front of their premises to help show the town at its very best.
