IT’S been a popular annual event for quite a few years, but this year historic Wheatley House, on the road between Binsted and Kingsley, had one of its best open-garden weekends.

The two-day event, on August 19-20, raised £2,500 for the National Gardens Scheme.

Owners Michael and Susannah Addlington admitted it was hard work keeping the garden in its stunning floral state, but added that it was worth it as nearly 500 visitors came to see the profusion of late-summer flowers, and to enjoy browsing the craft stalls.

Teas and homemade cakes were served in the Barn by the ladies of Binsted Church and the money they raised goes to the church.
