A DAMAGE limitation exercise is under way after the shock news this week that Petersfield has failed in its bid to become the headquarters for the newest national park in the country.
Hopes in Petersfield were riding high that the historical market town would come out on top as the preferred choice as the head office and administrative hub for South Downs National Park Authority.
It was also hoped to bring up to 30 new jobs to the town.
