A HOOK care service has begun distributing its new community grant to support services for older people.

Bluebird Care launched the grant scheme in July to benefit local groups which work with older people in Hart District or Basingstoke and Deane Borough.

After reviewing the applications, the Hook care unit chose Holistic Action for Health Associates (HAHA) to be the first beneficiary of the grant.

The grant will enable HAHA to offer older people, many of whom are living with multiple long-term conditions, complementary therapies to existing treatments, and help the older person to view themselves as an individual with needs and wants.

Phil Miles, director of Bluebird Care said: “We are thrilled to support this very exciting and worthwhile project. At Bluebird Care, we understand the need to look at the health and well-being of the whole person and this projects reflects this very well.”

Working across North Hampshire and West Berkshire, HAHA comprises a team of professionally trained and experienced complementary health practitioners who work in partnership, to offer therapies that cover a full holistic spectrum.

Charlotte Nightingale, director of HAHA, said: “We are very grateful to the team at Bluebird Care for awarding us this grant. We hope this project will enable us to help provide a people centred approach to delivering care.

“Our holistic approach to working with older people enables us to consider a range of options which empower them towards better self-care and management of their health needs.

“We will offer a range of activities which improve body and mind including relaxation therapies, yoga, art and craft, music and painting.”

Bluebird Care will be running further grant schemes in early 2017 and for further details or to request an application form, organisations can e-mail [email protected].
