THE body of a man found in Hook on Sunday has been confirmed to be that of Martin Smith.

The coroner ruled that Mr Smith, died of natural causes.

Police sealed off a housing estate in Griffin Way South near the Bartley Wood business park at around 8:30am on Sunday after the discovery of a man’s body in the bushes.

Officers investigating the death of the man in his 50s initially treated it as unexplained.

A screen was put in place covering a wooded area while forensics and investigators gathered evidence.

The B3349 Griffin Way South was completely closed off in both directions and a cordon put in place, with the road since re-opening.

On Sunday afternoon a Hampshire Police spokesman said: “Police were called at 8.33am on Sunday, December 4, to reports of a body along Griffin Way South, Hook.

“On arrival, officers found the body of a man, aged in his 50s, in bushes. The death is unexplained, but is not being treated as suspicious at this time. A file is being prepared for the coroner.
