BOHUNT School has shot to the top of the class after making it to the top 50 state schools in the country.

Staff and students were celebrating the good news this week after last weekendÕs Sunday TimesÕ Parent Power survey put the school high up in the chart for the most successful state schools.

Outstanding results in all subjects achieved by the students in the last school year helped to secure the Liphook schoolÕs place in the charts. The hard work of the students and teachers was reflected by 72 per cent of pupils achieving five or more A* to C grades, with an average point score that put the school in second place in the county league tables among HampshireÕs 71 secondary schools.

The school was also included in the Parent Power top 50 chart last year, but has gone up six places putting it at number 43.

Headteacher of Bohunt, Alan Taylor-Bennett, said he was absolutely delighted with the news.

An enthusiastic Mr Taylor-Bennett said: ÒItÕs great to see that our record breaking results this year have moved us up a further six places. WeÕll be even higher next year!Ó

The new chairman of the governors, Chris Leggett, was also thrilled with the schoolÕs chart position.

ÒSuccess generates its own satisfaction but we are determined not to be complacent- staff here will always do their best for the pupils; thatÕs how things work here,Ó Mr Leggett said.

The fantastic news comes as preparations start for celebrations for the schoolÕs silver anniversary.

Mr Taylor Bennett said: ÒMany people in Liphook can remember when the school was first built. We have made such amazing progress, and achieved so much in this time.Ó
