HOME-START Waverley received a welcome donation from Bill Loach, new president of Farnham Weyside Rotary, thanks to funds raised from recent club events.

Manager Dawn Murphy said the Waverley branch of the international charity helps over 100 families through its 75 volunteers.

Each volunteer undergoes a nine-week training course at a cost of £450 per volunteer, and the Rotary donation will be used to help towards these costs.

Home-Start is one of the leading charities supporting families with young children, and it helps around 60,000 families in the UK. Its work includes help with managing the difficulties any family might face with small children, especially when there are financial, illness or relationship difficulties.

Its army of volunteers provides valuable friendship and advice at critical times.
