THE Woodlarks Centre has been awarded a grant of £500 from the Eagle Radio Trust.
An application was made to help Woodlarks with a project to transform a large bathroom only used on an occasional basis into an in-house hair salon.
All the residents at Woodlarks require regular haircuts but they deserve the same experience as everyone else when visiting a hair salon.
However, taking them to a salon in Farnham is not the easiest of undertakings as most are wheelchair bound, so to have an in-house hairdressing salon would allow residents to have the full hairdressing experience and to feel pampered, but without the difficulties of transportation.
Barrie Funnell, finance manager of Eagle Radio and trustee of the Eagle Radio Trust and Beverley Fullen, commonly known as ‘Breakfast Bev’, who is on the Peter Gordon Breakfast Show each morning came to present the cheque.
Gill Butler, community fundraiser at The Woodlarks Centre, said: “We were thrilled to hear from the Eagle Radio Trust that we had been successful in our bid for funding to help us create the in-house hairdressing salon.
“It will transform a rarely used room and put it to good use, so that our residents can feel truly pampered. We are very grateful to the Eagle Radio Trust for their support.”
Barrie Funnell added: “Eagle Radio Trust is delighted to help the Woodlark Centre continue its excellent work for its residents and we look forward to visiting the salon when it is open.”
