A BEAUTIFUL Bordon youngster has been crowned The Herald's Child of the Year 2007. Nicole Edwards, aged two, and her father Lee Edwards visited The Farnham Herald offices to collect the £100 prize money and Child of the Year certificate. Her mother, Lindsay Searle from Morse Close, said: "I'm really glad that she has won. I'm very proud of her and so is her father. As soon as I heard the good news I rang him and he was obviously really pleased." The rest of the family are very proud of Nicole, but nobody is sure that Nicole herself knows what she has achieved. Lindsay said: "Nicole went to Farnham to have her photograph taken again and she really enjoyed it. "I've tried to explain it all to her, and I'm not sure that she understands, but she's definitely having a nice time." Lindsay said the prize money will be spent on a toy shopping spree for Nicole. "She absolutely loves Dora the Explorer, so I bet she'll spend most of the money on that – we'll end up with loads. We're really thankful that she won," she said. Photographer Jon Marshall took hundreds of portraits of children for this year's competition in Farnham, Alton, Bordon, Haslemere and Liphook. This is his 10th year in the industry.
