TO congratulate its members for all their hard work and for the support they’ve shown to the club, Farnham Boxing Club held its annual awards ceremony.

More than 120 people – boxers, friends and family members – were invited to the special event which kicked off with the presentation of awards.

“This is a great way for the members to socialise with each other and to relax,” commented Alice Askew, who deals with admin and marketing at the club.

“Each mini-junior and junior received a medal to recognise their hard work and dedication, we then presented certificates and medals to the ‘role models’ of the club.

“This was followed by trophies for the most motivated, dedicated, inspired and best team player, and finally came the much sought after Boxer of the Year award.”

The mini-junior went to Destiny Reilly, the junior was a joint prize and went to Ethan Haley and Nathan Jones, and the senior award went to Jason Short.

The winners were a combination of those actively competing in the sport of boxing, and those who attend the club for fitness.

The evening concluded with a friendly dance-off between the club’s teenagers, and more lively seniors, which was “highly entertaining” and a “great way to watch their friendships grow”, said Alice.
