ORGANISERS of last year’s Bramstock Festival presented two "generous" cheques to the Petersfield-based Rosemary Foundation and the 4th Battalion Parachute Regiment.

Each recipient was handed a cheque for £1,750 at a presentation at the war memorial outside St Mary’s Church in Bramshott in the company of Terry Burns and Bob Hall, members of the Liphook branch of the Royal British Legion.

Representing the Rosemary Foundation were Sabine Banes-Walker, Elspeth Dixon, and volunteer fundraiser Allison Price.

The 4th Battalion Parachute Regiment, whose headquarters are in Pudsey, West Yorkshire, was represented by Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel James Loudoun and Regimental Sergeant Major (WO1) Chris Smith.

Bramstock Festival which takes place in May, has been organised by Cathy Austin and Rod Menzies for the last three years and features a selection of local bands.

Cathy said: “Since we don’t have a community centre or pub in the village, we created a monthly pop-up in a local barn, which now has 130 members - all residents of Bramshott.

“Bramstock grew out of that and this year it attracted 700 revellers. We only send out notification to members and they can bring along family and friends.

“At the end of each year, the members chose who the profits we make should be given to and this year it is the Rosemary Foundation and the 4th Battalion Parachute Regiment.

“In addition local children were involved in fundraising for their chosen charity - and managed to give £500 to Action Aid Nepal.”

Colonel Jimmy Jack of the Liphook branch of the Royal British Legion, who was represented by his wife Anne, has launched an appeal for more younger members to come forward and join. He can be contacted on 01428 724002.
