THE growing trend for "big, bold and brash shop fronts" is ruining the beauty of Petersfield town centre, according to a watchdog.

Retailers considering a makeover have been urged to think carefully about their design by the society and its chairman, Tony Struthers.
The group believes the current penchant for "big and garish" signs and advertisements is damaging the town's historic appearance.
