THERE were smiles all-round as users of Bells Piece Leonard Cheshire Disability service in Hale Road welcomed a visit by Farnham Brass Band last Friday to receive the proceeds of its Christmas fundraising.

The band serenaded shoppers at Morrisons in Aldershot and Lion and Lamb Yard, Farnham on consecutive Saturdays before Christmas, and thanks to their generosity Roz and Alex Forsyth from the band were able to present £365 to Robert Hambrook, service manager.

Davina Scott, Bells Piece deputy manager, confirmed the money will go towards the service’s support group, a band of parents and volunteers tasked with raising funds for one-off projects such as Bells Piece’s new shop and skills for life training for its clients.

She added: “There is very little funding coming from social services these days, so it really does mean a lot when people raise money for us. Thank you for supporting us, and thanks to the shoppers as well.”

Farnham Brass Band meets on Monday evenings at the Tilford Institute and welcomes new players of all abilities to Training Band or Main Band rehearsals. For more information visit www.farnhambrassband.org.uk.
