FARNHAM Country Market has been swelled by a new member who is a specialist bread maker.

Peter Foster (pictured), a trained chef, enjoys baking rustic breads, Belgian and hot cross buns along with a range of gluten free products, and his stall will complement the regular display of cakes and savouries at the weekly Friday market at the United Reformed Church in South Street, opposite Sainsbury’s.

For more than 67 years, the market has offered a range of home made and crafted items for sale at reasonable prices. Farnham WI Country Market started out in a caravan at the bottom of Castle Street in 1949, selling food and plants in the morning and crafts in the afternoon.

When the towing on and off the site each week became too expensive, the market relocated to the big hall at the URC and every Friday, the plant stall in front of the church is a sign that the market is open for business between 9.30am and 11am.
