AN Elstead dog breeder will face 14 charges at two trials early next year.

John Lowe, the owner of Keepers Cottage Stud, will appear before magistrates at Woking on January 13 for allegedly selling a crossbreed beagle as a pure breed, in a prosecution brought by Surrey Trading Standards. He denies the charge.

Mr Lowe will also appear before Guildford magistrates on February 7, facing 13 charges - all of which he denies - brought by Waverley council.

The council is prosecuting him for allegedly breeding without a licence and earlier breaching the conditions of his licence by failing to prevent and control disease and by keeping more than the permitted numbers of animals in certain pens. The trial is expected to last three days.
