HOGS Back Brewery has presented children’s charity Challengers with a cheque for £7,500, rounding off a year-long support programme which has seen the brewery raise a total of nearly £16,000.
The donation, presented by the Tongham brewery’s managing director Rupert Thompson, doubles an initial £7,500 given by the brewery to Challengers in July. In the same month, customers at the Hogs Back summer party donated an additional £970.
Challengers provides play and leisure opportunities for disabled children and young people at their centres across Surrey and Hampshire including St James’ Avenue in Farnham.
Rupert said: “We have been very happy to support Challengers this year. They are an excellent charity and held in great affection locally, as shown by the generosity of our customers.
“The support of the local community has played a huge part in the success of Hogs Back Brewery. We are grateful to the local pubs and shops who champion our beers, the local residents who drink them and the local people who work in our brewery. Helping Challengers is one way for us to show our gratitude for the help we have been given locally.”
Susie Frearson, corporate partnerships manager at Challengers, said: “We’re delighted to receive this donation from Hogs Back Brewery. The money will be put to good use in 2016, helping to fund the work we do with disabled children and young people.
“It costs an average of £124 a day for a child to come to Challengers, meaning Hogs Back Brewery’s generous donation could provide a day of play for 129 children and young people.”
