WAVERLEY Borough Council's hopes of securing funding for its controversial Brightwells redevelopment in Farnham from a "major financial institution" have diminished, a Freedom of Information request has revealed.
In the notes of the July 2 meeting of the Brightwells Steering Group, obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, developers Crest Nicholson admitted funding was yet to be secured for its scheme‚ some six months after construction was scheduled to begin.
Although the true estimated cost of Brightwells is yet to be revealed by the council, it is believed to be in the region of the £130m spent on the regeneration of Camberley town centre, another Crest scheme.
