FARNHAM Town Council’s summer season of events will get off to a lively start on Sunday (June 3) with Dance in the Meadow.
The event is a celebration of the wonderful variety of dance that happens in and around Farnham and will be held at Gostrey Meadow from 1pm to 5pm.
There will be more than 15 performances by youth, adult and professional dance groups as well as African and Caribbean, maypole and urban dance workshops.
Jill Hargreaves, the town council’s lead member for tourism and events, said: “Bring a picnic and your dancing shoes to this wonderfully uplifting event, which is organised by The Dance Movement.
"The performances will range from traditional to contemporary and everything in between. We are delighted to welcome Re:Bourne, the charitable arm of Matthew Bourne’s award-winning dance company and look forward to both their dance performance and Swan Lake Repertoire workshop.
“It is thanks to the generosity and support of Kidd Rapinet Solicitors who are this year’s Summer in Farnham sponsors, that we are able to put on such vibrant and exciting events for Farnham residents and visitors.
"Dance in the Meadow does a wonderful job of showcasing the marvellous dance opportunities available in Farnham.”
Tony Fresko Ice cream vans are a familiar sight at Farnham events and will be appearing as a sponsor at Dance in the Meadow. Additional refreshments will be on sale at the charity tea tent which is hosted by 3rd Farnham Scouts, and Wrecclesham Guides will be serving at the Pimms tent.
