A NEW adaptation of Charlotte Bronte’s celebrated gothic novel Jane Eyre comes to the stage at Bordon’s Phoenix Theatre and Arts Centre on Saturday.

Presented by acclaimed professional theatre company Dyad Productions, this radical solo production is performed by Hampshire-born and raised Rebecca Vaughan, who embodies everywoman Jane - and several other characters - in this intimate study of love’s realities.

Struggling to think, live and love beyond the stifling expectations of duty, class and convention, governess Jane embarks on a dark journey towards sensual and intellectual liberation with her employer Master Edward Rochester.

Told through Jane’s eyes, literature’s most celebrated autobiographical novel, that shocked the Victorians, has been distilled for the theatre, under its full title Jane Eyre: An Autobiography, by writer and director Elton Townend Jones.

Dyad Productions creates, produces and tours classic theatre with an innovative emphasis.

* Jane Eyre: An Autobiography starts at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £14 (concessions and members £12). To book, call 01420 472664 or visit phoenixarts.co.uk.
