STACEY Burrows and Lucy Pygott, the teenage runners tragically killed in November, will be remembered this weekend by Stacey’s brother, Lee.

The 16-year-old’s older brother will take part in a half marathon in memory of his sister and her friend.

The two teenagers from Farnborough and Hartley Wintney, respectively, were killed on November 8 in Queens Avenue, Aldershot, when they were struck by an alleged drunk driver as they ran on a stretch of road near to the athletics stadium.

Lee Burrowsis set to take on the first ever Farnborough Half Marathon on January 22 in memory of the pair and will be raising money for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance, the latter attending the scene on the night of the two runner’s deaths.

While running the 13-mile race this Sunday, the 24 year old will be wearing race number one.

Writing on his JustGiving page, Lee said: “I will be taking part in the first Farnborough Half Marathon on January 22 in memory of my sister Stacey and her teammate Lucy Pygott who were tragically killed while out running back in November 2016.

“Stacey and Lucy were well on their way to achieving greatness both as athletes and as students, two very determined and committed individuals that will be sadly missed by family and friends.

“Stacey believed her athletic career was steering towards marathon running, I therefore see this as a tribute to the life she would have led.”

The fundraising page at the time of writing had raised £7,684.87, over £6,000 and 768 per cent more than what Lee had intended to raise.
