JUST under 750 people gathered to take part in Phyllis Tuckwell’s new Bubble Rush fundraising event at Merrist Wood College in Worplesdon last month.

This 4km foam-filled fun run took participants through five special stations along the route, where high-powered cannons sprayed out a sea of coloured foam, creating a 4ft deep bubble bath for them to burst their way through.

It was a warm day, despite the grey clouds, and spectators lined the start and finish sections of the race, cheering on the foam-covered participants.

The run was split into two waves, with those who took part choosing between an 11am and a 1pm start. Many who were there on the day had come in memory of a loved one, and as the race coincided with was also Father’s Day it had an even more poignant meaning for some.

As well as getting covered from head to foot in colourful bubbles, all who took part were also given a Bubble Rush t-shirt, medal, goody bag and bottle of water.

“We are thrilled that our first ever Bubble Rush was such a success, and that everyone who came along had such a fabulous time!” said Laura Moody, events fundraising manager at Phyllis Tuckwell, adding it is hoped the event will raise in excess of £25,000.
