A KINGS Road resident has accused Waverley Borough Council of a "lack of compassion" over his claims that building work on a new care home caused more than £1,000 damage to his property.

Martin Ripley, who lives in Kings Court and whose house borders the care home, also claimed there had been a lack of policing of the site by the enforcement section of Waverley's planning department.

A Waverley spokesman said that the problems encountered by Mr Ripley were "not within the council's remit as a planning authority".
