SOME of the most vulnerable elderly people in Petersfield could be forced to relocate following a shock move to close their care home.

People with relatives at Bulmer House have urged Hampshire County Council to think again about closing the home off Ramshill.

Members were due to decide today whether to start a 12-month consultation into the possible closure of four county council-run homes.

The Conservative-run council claims that demand for residential care is falling and that more people want stay-at-home treatment.

They plan to demolish and replace Bulmer House with a collection of individual flats with supprt services available on site.
