FARNHAM Weyside Rotary Club, together with Farnham Rotary Club and nine other clubs in the area, organised a huge and colourful event for underprivileged youngsters at the Aldershot Military Stadium.

Kids Out is a national charity devoted to giving disadvantaged children fun and positive experiences. Every year Rotary clubs across the country get together with the Kids Out team to provide a day of variety and entertainment.

In Aldershot, around 800 children came along from 49 local schools, together with carers and teachers to find glorious sunshine and a mass of things to do.

Activities ranged from bouncy castles and slides to, farm animals, miniature train rides, football and golf, organised by Farnham Rotary Club, and another popular attraction was the face painting stall run by Farnham Weyside Rotary Club.

A number of local dignitaries came along to see the fun, including Deputy Mayor and Mayoress of Farnham David and Anne Attfield, the mayors of Rushmoor, Guildford, Godalming and Woking, as well as representatives of the Aldershot Garrison, Hampshire County Council and Surrey County Council.

This event has been run since 1970, and now is one of the largest events of its kind in the country. All those who help to run it say that it is one of the most rewarding activities they take part in every year.
