Crisis? What crisis? Having propped up the division for a few weeks, Farnham have recorded two successive wins to take up a respectable sixth place in the league table.

They duly dispatched bottom side Addiscombe with an emphatic all-round display in the Park on Saturday.

Put in to bat, Farnham made a sticky start and after losing two wickets for five runs, struggled to 28-3 in 15 overs.

However, Alan Thorpe found an excellent partner in Peter Dickinson who is again looking the genuine article as an all-rounder. Both were watchful at first, content to wait for the loose ball. And they were merciless on anything short.

When Dickinson departed for a fine 72, Farnham were 164-4 and Thorpe looked well on course for a century. However, Richard Johnson had him caught behind for 75.

The tail was shepherded by James Crutcher, who again made a good impression with some clean hitting, and Farnham finished on 207 all out in 60 overs. Adnan Saleem deserved his 4 for 45 in 22 overs, while Johnson earned his four rather more expensively towards the end of the innings.

A weary Dickinson was unable to make the breakthrough when Addiscombe batted and it was Aubrey Steyn who carried the main threat at the top end.

Bowling with menace and aggression, he dismissed Chris Salmons with the score on 13. Poulton and Crocombe batted sensibly for a time, but Patrick Murphy broke the stand by hitting the stumps in his first over.

Steyn got his reward by having Johnson and Saleem caught in quick succession as Addiscombe limped to 60-4. Rob Smith had Poulton stumped by Gary Clapham for 32 and Chic Stedman, after bowling Miller for 32, promptly took another wicket before Stevens led some resistance.

But Addiscombe capitulated when Clapham recalled his big guns. Dickinson bowled Stevens and had Sharma caught one-handed by the laid-back Crutcher. Steyn ended the innings with his fourth wicket and the visitors were all out for 125.

Farnham look forward to their visit to leaders Normandy this week, when they have Tom Hicks and Simon Hollingsworth available again.
