GREATHAM has called off its June village Queen's Diamond Jubilee street party because of a dispute over a road closure.
Organisers described the council's decision as "bureaucracy gone insane".
The Greatham Events Committee, which has put on social celebrations in the village for more than eight years, said it was told by the council that it would have to pay £1,000 to employ a professional company to organise the road closure, with the correct signage, to take traffic away from the main Peter-sfield Road that runs thro-ugh Greatham and to the A3.
