BURGLARS made off with thousands of pounds in cash after targeting community premises in Alton.

Between Monday afternoon and the early hours of Tuesday morning, £3,000 was taken from the Palace Cinema, and a small amount of cash was taken from raids on Alton Community Centre and St Lawrence Church Hall, on Vicarage Hill.

There were reports also of attempted entry at St Lawrence Primary School, on Amery Hill, and Alton Methodist Church over the same period.
