Sir, – East Hampshire Council's idea to provide a green burial site is beyond belief.
What is needed is a crematorium that friends and relatives can get to easily, to pay their last respects, to meet others, to create the atmosphere of community so essential at such times.
Crematoria now used in Guildford, Chichester, Portchester and Aldershot are too many miles away.
As reported, for the district council to even think about creating a green burial site, a commercial undertaking, in competition with others, to have its officers working on this is quite outrageous.

Another amazing project is buying house property in Portsmouth to rent to students of the university. A more profitable project could be to put parking meters in the Grayshott car parks!
To show the reality of such schemes (a good word) a net profit of £5,000 would equal less than £1 on the tax of a Petersfield property.
As for "Project X", I'm very excited, waiting to see the runner laying the trail with a sack of red herrings, necessary to divert the electorate from the real problems of budgeting caused by a tax freeze!
