Sir, - I fully agree with Admiral Roxburgh (April 6) that had the Yellow Scenic Route, for which he and many others in Hindhead and elsewhere campaigned, been approved by the last government, we should now have a bypass for Hindhead.

However, the tunnel scheme, without toll, has now been given the go-ahead, so surely all should at once bury their differences and support it, as stated by Mr Lister in his letter.

I feel sure that the questions posed by peter Alliss will be quickly resolved, most important, however, is that pressure be brought on the government of what ever flavour, to give immediate priority for work on the tunnel to start at a very early date.
