BUS passengers at the Holybourne end of town have been left standing after the bus stop on The Alton Grange side of London Road was cordoned off by roadworks over the past week.

Not only has the Stagecoach stop sign been removed but the bus shelter has been upended by contractors as they plough on with work to instate an access road to enable work to start on Persimmon's 172-home development on the Chandos Lodge site, behind The Grange.

The roadworks will include the installation of traffic lights, designed to facilitate additional traffic from the new development, and improve access onto and off London Road from Eggar's School and Holybourne village.

But for bus passengers, who include schoolchildren and villagers, it has been a nightmare.
