Bosses at a garden centre in Badshot Lea have thanked loyal customers for their support following the closure of a nearby road during the warm spell.

Squires remains fully open and accessible despite ongoing emergency gas works at the junction of Badshot Lea Road and Green Lane.

And visitors who follow the diversions will reap the benefits, with the store offering everything that gardeners need to make the most of the great outdoors in these glorious conditions.

Traffic is being diverted via Weybourne Lane and Weybourne Road while SGN carries out urgent pipe repairs, with road closures expected until Saturday, May 10.

The timing is especially frustrating for Squires as spring – and especially given the recent warm weather – is traditionally one of the busiest times of the year for garden centres.

So centre manager, Brian Philips, is grateful for the customers who are coming through the door – and wants to assure everyone else the store is open for business.

He said: “We would like to reassure our customers that we’re open and here to help during this time.

“We are very grateful to our loyal visitors for continuing to support us while these essential works take place.”

Chris Jackman, Farnham town councillor for Badshot Lea & Moor Park, has sympathy for Squire’s given the impact of roadworks on their business.

He has been keeping social media users informed about the emergency works via his accounts, while trying to boost trade for the centre.

He said: “It’s great to see Squire’s doing all they can to support their customers during these emergency works.

“Local family businesses like this are at the heart of our community, and I’m pleased to help spread the word that they’re open and accessible and encourage locals to visit the usual places they support.

“It’s important to get the message out there.”
