Alton and Petersfield National Farmers’ Union (NFU) branch secretary Richard Buer invited NFU president Minette Batters to attend the Alresford Show.

The Alresford Show is now the only agricultural show left in mid-Hampshire.

Members of the Alton and Petersfield NFU branch and the Winchester and Wickham NFU branch came early to the show to listen to Minette address them, run through the issues of the day and take questions.

Minette then came on to the large NFU stand at the event and spent time at the show where she had ridden her pony when she was a child.

Minette is the NFU’s first female president.

The Alresford Show enjoyed perfect weather, was very well attended and had a lot to see for visitors – as well as providing a showpiece for farming.
