A Farnham businessman has begun a fundraising drive as his firm will compete in a wheely good event in aid of Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.
Kerr & Watson are combining team-building with charitable fundraising as they’ve entered this summer’s Bordon Soapbox Race.
The mortgage and insurance brokers offered companies the chance to have their logo emblazoned on their kart in exchange for a £50 donation to the hospice.
The initiative has raised £600 with K&W throwing in their own donation for the July 20 event on Chalet Hill.
“We entered the race as a team-building exercise because we thought it would be a great day out for our company,” said Mr Kerr, who learned about the race at a networking event.
“But then we saw a chance to do something more meaningful with it.
“I’m pleased to say we reached out to a number of local companies and they agreed to give a donation and have their logo on the side of our kart on race day.”
The Farnborough-based firm had help from G Monkey Designs, who have wrapped their kart, with advertising space being offered in exchange for a donation to the good cause from south Farnham.
“It’s great that a small thing like entering a race can raise money for such a great cause,” added Mr Kerr.
“We couldn’t have done it without Graham McCreath from G Monkey Designs, our kart designer, and the support of all the companies who donated.”
The companies that donated are: Seymours in (Blackwater branch), Fleet Mortgages, Branston Adams, The Castle Pub, Bakerlaw LLP, Menzies, Metro Bank, Wilcox Day, Howden, Clifton Ingram and Hansford Financial Solutions.
The firm’s trainee mortgage adviser, Matthew Ralph, will be behind the wheel on race day. For more information about Kerr & Watson visit www.kerrandwatson.co.uk
