A developer is building relationships with pupils at Bordon Junior School as they gave pupils a behind-the-scenes tour of an emerging estate.
Youngsters from the school’s Construction Club were treated to an educational trip to The Green, a 77-property housing development being built by BRiCS at Oxney Quarter.
The group was given the chance to view homes at different stages of construction - from foundation to near completion - before touring the showhome, viewing floorplans and asking questions to industry experts.
Tracey Gallacher-Thresh, of BRiCS, said: “It was a real joy to welcome the 14 children of Bordon Junior School to The Green and to give them an insight into how a development progresses.
“They were all a credit to their school and showed a real interest in construction. I am sure there are some future building professionals amongst them.
“As an SME regional builder, we are committed to engaging with the local community and we hope this is just the start of a strong relationship with Bordon Junior School.”
Debbie Wren, Construction Club leader at the school, said: “Our school motto is ‘bringing learning to life’ and this visit certainly helped our pupils gain a better understanding of the housebuilding process.
“Our thanks to BRiCS for giving us the opportunity to expand our knowledge. The site looks fantastic.”
BRiCS also recently made a donation to 1st Blackmoor, Bordon & Whitehill Scout Group to allow its members to complete the DIY Activity Badge.
The Green is part of the £1bn regeneration of Whitehill and Bordon and features an onsite showroom, which is open from Thursday to Monday from 10am to 5pm.
