The boss of a Farnham opticians has followed in Hannibal’s footsteps by crossing the Alps - albeit on a bike for charity.
Ryan Leighton of Leightons Opticians & Hearing Care is having a well-earned rest after cycling 355 miles from Geneva to Milan over days.
The challenge, which involved a total climb of nearly 17,000 feet, saw 75 business leaders, founders and CEOs take to the roads from the Brunswick Memorial to the Duomo di Milano.
The adventure was organised by Ride 25 to raise money for 1morechild to empower vulnerable children in Jinja, Uganda.
Mr Leighton said: “It's been an incredible experience, cycling through stunning landscapes and meeting new people.
“Sharing an adventure whilst raising funds for a brilliant charity, has been such a privilege although challenging!
“The highlight for me was cycling over the Nufenen Pass - the second highest road in Switzerland at 2,478m elevation.”
