Farnham’s much-loved department store has been gifted a national award following a Great victory in London.

Staff at Elphicks have been celebrating after the West Street institution triumphed in The Greats Awards.

Elphicks scooped the Best Department Store Retailer of Gifts award during the industry showpiece at the Royal Lancaster Hotel.

Hosted by comedian Andrew Ryan, the awards were attended by some 400 guests, spanning gift retailers, suppliers, manufacturers, reps and agents, who shared in the joy as the delighted winners made their way to the stage to collect their trophies.

“The 2024 Awards saw an unprecedented level of engagement from retailers and suppliers alike,” said Sue Marks, editor of Progressive Gifts & Home in her welcome speech.

“This was evidenced by the wealth of nominations from the gift industry at large, as well as from the huge number of gift retailers self-nominating and putting their shops forward.”

The winners in all the retail categories were chosen following an exhaustive industry-wide nomination process.

Alan Bushnell, Elphick’s group managing director, was a happy man following the triumph in central London.

He said: “We felt incredibly proud and privileged to be standing on stage as the winner of the prestigious Greats Awards 2024 Best Department Store Retailer of Gifts category.

“It was made even more special as we were competing against first-class retailers.”

Mr Bushnell added: “The award reflects the hard work and dedication of the team.

“It motivates us to continue striving for excellence and pushing the boundaries of what we can achieve.”
