DEMAND for science and technology professionals in the South East increased by nine per cent year-on-year to April 2018 according to research from the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo).

The data, provided by recruitment software company, Innovantage, also reveals vacancies within the IT sector experienced a notable rise of four per cent.

Commenting on the data, Rina Durban, membership relations manager at APSCo said: “After several months of positivity, the South East is seeing continued success with demand for professionals rising. The science and technology sector in particular is performing well with future plans for growth in the pipeline.

“A recent report from Grant Thornton revealed that for South East businesses today, technology is a key focus area with its survey showing over 30 per cent of companies see it as an accelerator.

“With the Oxford Sciences Innovation currently investing in global science and technology to expand its spin-out companies, initiatives such as this can help increase funding and talent for research teams in the region.

“The investment demonstrates confidence and helps grow the South East’s reputation as global leader for science-based enterprises.”
