A property litigation specialist with offices in Farnham, Reading and Wokingham has strengthened its portfolio with the acquisition of local firm, PainSmith Solicitors.

Medstead-based PainSmith is a nationally recognised specialist firm founded more than 24 years ago by respected property lawyer Marveen Smith.

The acquisition brings PainSmith’s highly specialised landlord and tenant expertise into Clifton Ingram at a time when the sector is facing sustained regulatory change and increasing complexity.

After starting her career in accountancy and tax Marveen retrained in law and founded PainSmith more than two decades ago.

She established the business close to home after she spotted an office near a local saddlery, the firm was shaped around real life as much as legal complexity; a hands-on, human approach that still defines it today.

Over the past 24 years, PainSmith has earned a national reputation for advising landlords, tenants, letting agents and property professionals across England and Wales, as well as international clients operating in the UK market.

The decision to join Clifton Ingram represents a carefully planned, founder-led succession.

Marveen said: “Joining Clifton Ingram allows us to continue delivering that same service, giving clients access to a broader range of legal expertise when they need it.”

Jonathan Foulds, Managing Partner at Clifton Ingram said: “We are delighted to welcome Marveen, her team and her clients to Clifton Ingram.

“Clients need advice that is not only technically sound but also practical and commercially realistic.

“Bringing PainSmith into Clifton Ingram allows us to offer exactly that, alongside our wider dispute resolution, property and other legal services.”

“For me, success is continuity,” Marveen said in response.

“It is about clients being supported properly, staff developing in their careers, and knowing what we have built will continue in the right way, with a firm who shares our values.”
