ALTONÕS business and retail outlets are being invited to help make the town look more attractive for the Golden Jubilee by playing an active part in this yearÕs ÔAlton in BloomÕ programme.

Last year over 70 local businesses joined Alton Town Council and Alton Chamber of Commerce and Industry in their bid to brighten up the town and it is hoped that the 2002 project will prove even more successful.

Businesses are being asked to either sponsor a lamp-post basket, which this year will be adorned in royal purple and gold, or to purchase individual hanging baskets in red, white and blue.

While some people will prefer to supply their own baskets, it is hoped to retain the colour scheme.

Any basket supplied under the ÔAlton in BloomÕ label will be replaced, until the end of August, free of charge, if vandalised.

The committee is also offering a watering service for hanging baskets at a cost of £27 for the first basket and £23 for subsequent baskets.

Hanging baskets will cost £22 each, with brackets supplied and fitted, if need be, at a cost of £5 each.

Lamp-post basket sponsorship, to include watering, will cost £90 and the sponsorÕs name and details will appear on the lamp posts.

Alton Chamber of Commerce and Industry is taking orders now and may be contacted for further details on 01420 544881.
